Elton John officially retired from touring in July of 2023, but he still plays one-off sets from time to time. On Wednesday (February 19) it was announced that the iconic singer-songwriter would be performing at Singapore's 2025 Formula 1 Grand Prix this fall. He's set to close out the event on October 5.
The Rocket Man's last performance was this past December in Costa Mesa, California for the 50th annual Candlelight Concert. He also plans to play a show in London next month with Brandi Carlile to celebrate their upcoming collaborative album Who Believe In Angels?.
The album was made freshly after John's final tour date, and during a recent interview with iHeartRadio's Ellen K he admitted the first few days of writing were tough.
"I was very tired. I wasn't feeling very well, and I was grumpy. And so the initial process was difficult as there were four people involved," he confessed (Andrew Watt and Bernie Taupin helped write the album). "And mostly it was my fault because I just was being unreasonable, and I was really worried about the album. I had a lot of self-doubt. Now, you may not believe that, but I had a lot of self [doubt] because I knew what I wanted this album to be. But you can't say, when you say that, you can't guarantee what an album's going to sound like. But when we got over the first few days, and I calmed down, the process flew and it was one of the most joyous, most exhilarating processes I've ever had in my life."
Who Believes In Angels? is slated for an April 4 release.
