Historically viewed as a "birth defect" science didn't know much about Polydactyly (having extra fingers and toes) as extra digits were usually amputated right after birth. A study of a mother and son who both have six fingers on each hand demonstrate high functionality (Say video game domination??) Dude ties his shoe with one hand!! Scientists are thinking this could lead to a new model of digits and limbs for robots.
