Eddie Van Halen Released From Hospital After Bad Reaction To Cancer Drugs

2015 Billboard Music Awards - Show

Eddie Van Halen was briefly hospitalized over the weekend after a bad reaction to his ongoing throat cancer treatment.

The rock guitar icon was admitted to the hospital last week with an intestinal issues, which were the result of a bad reaction to cancer drugs, TMZ reports.

He was released again on Sunday and is said to be doing well and playing music with his son Wolfgang.

TMZ reported in October that Eddie has been traveling back and forth between the U.S. and Germany for the past five years to get radiation treatment.

While Eddie's cancer is believed to be responsible for Van Halen's aborted touring plans this past summer, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been enjoying family life. He was recently spotted with Wolfgang at the Staples Center in Los Angeles seeing Tool perform.

While Eddie is maintaining his standard of living, his longtime band mate David Lee Roth has expressed doubts about the prospect of Van Halen ever performing together.

Roth said this summer that it's on him to maintain the band's legacy. The front man's upcoming 2020 Las Vegas residency is believed to be the first in a larger plan to relaunch his solo career.
